Yes, there are the GCs who say formally, in their most reasonable-sounding academic voice: "girls can do anything boys can do — play with whatever toys, be gay, dress however you like, even change your name — just not your pronouns, and no hormones/surgery." And then there are the more aggressive campaigning orgs that say: well actually, no drag, no gay marriage, no sex ed, no internet, no libraries, no mentioning "gay" in school, arrest people in bathrooms on suspicion of being queer, etc. Because these two sides work together, at least tacitly (instead of rejecting each other outright), they don't untangle.
