Yes, the very idea of "social deviance" is about people who don't fit in, and people often try to explain why someone doesn't fit in by saying they must be "mentally ill." Turns out, we can accept lots of human differences if we're willing and if we try. Once we accept a specific person as they are, we have no reason to look for "explanations" like attributing mental illness to them.
