I hadn't thought of this—that "divisive" is specifically a racist buzzword in the broader "culture wars" (the latter being perhaps a more general-purpose reactionary buzzword). Perhaps a parallel: The word "[gender] ideology" is wielded as an accusation in transphobic discourse. I hadn't thought about the word "divisive" being specifically reserved for racist discourse. That is eye-opening and useful to know, thank you.
