It’s Official: All Trans People Kicked Out of U.S. Military

Though I’m not a military employee nor otherwise an authority on these matters, I did stay up late to read today’s 13-page memo, hoping to help others absorb the information more quickly. If this policy affects you, please consult official sources to get the proper information for your situation.
Today, February 26, the U.S. Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness, Darin S. Selnick, issued policy guidance and reporting requirements for the military to prove that it’s complying with the no-trans rule. This is based on President Donald Trump’s January 27 executive order, “Prioritizing Military Excellence and Readiness” (about which I wrote) and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s February 7 memo by the same name.
Trans people will be kicked out of the military
You “will be processed for separation from military service” if you:
- Have a “history” of “gender dysphoria”
- Have a “current diagnosis” of “gender dysphoria”
- Ever had “cross-sex hormone therapy…as treatment for gender dysphoria or in pursuit of a sex transition”
