Thomas Zimmer said a similar thing today in "In Defense of My Students" on his Substack (Democracy Americana). Lots of people refer to "the idea of the campus as a stronghold of leftwing extremism and authoritarian censoriousness," yet that's not what he actually sees on campus. Inevitably, someone somewhere is saying something "implausible," "extreme," or "abhorrent," taking one side or another, and the process of figuring out how to talk to each other is "messy." But that doesn't mean there's an ideological cult that rules the universities.
