There's so much in this essay!

This part especially makes me stop and think about white men:

sourcing their identity from other white men in films;

lacking other ways of forming their identity;

and becoming upset when anyone who's not a white man also has a starring role in a film, as they assume that other people's success somehow makes the pie smaller for them.

And they do this when they are not even Hollywood actors but just theatergoers! They believe their real lives expand or shrink depending on the race of the people in fiction!
