Richard Dawkins Had Kathleen Stock on His Show
No, this anti-trans position isn’t ‘moderate.’ It’s hypocritical, unfair, and insincere.
Previously I’ve written about Richard Dawkins’s podcast guests Helen Joyce, Peter Boghossian, and Lawrence Krauss. Dawkins facilitates conversations in which his guests put forth anti-trans arguments. Typically, he asks leading questions and lets his guests do the heavy lifting of their particular brand of disinformation.
When I saw he’d interviewed Kathleen Stock, I first read Stock’s book, which she’d published in 2021, so I’d have context for understanding their 2024 conversation. Her one-hour conversation with Dawkins reflects her book’s claims; it seems her worldview hasn’t much changed.
In case you’re interested in the circumstances of the interview: Stock and Dawkins both live in the UK. During the May 2024 Dissident Dialogues Conference in New York, an expensive two-day event for people who enjoy a certain kind of contrarianism, they recorded a conversation for Dawkins’s podcast. Dawkins is wearing his conference lanyard in the video. Two months later, he uploaded the recording of their conversation to his YouTube Channel.
