Premise: "the right will accept anyone, even someone as morally necrotic as Donald Trump"--or, perhaps, the right accepts people *because* they are morally necrotic.

OK, premise provisionally accepted. But I am a little perplexed by the proposal that this causes regular people to identify with the right or inspires them to want to join the right. How exactly would that work?

Recognizing moral necrosis usually goes along with making an us-them diagnosis. For example, someone might say: *They're morally necrotic, but I'm certainly not. If I have done something wrong, at least I'm trying to change for the better and not associating with people who drag me down further.* I just have a hard time understanding how someone could say: *Yes, I recognize myself among the evildoers, and I recognize that evil is bad, yet I won't try to change and I'll stick with the evildoers because that's easier for me.*
