On the authoritarian interpretation of parental rights, yesterday we learned that anti-gay Fox contributor Corey DeAngelis (surprise!) has a secret gay past, and he's been put on leave from his work at American Federation for Children. The same sort of secrecy, lies, restriction, and hypocrisy that an adult lives out, that adult may try to impose on children. But the dance often isn't sustainable even for the adult. DeAngelis got found out. I don't care what his sexual orientation is, of course; it matters more that he's a hypocrite. And it matters that, by pushing for LGBTQ invisibility and exclusion in schools, he's been trying to enforce his (now personally failed) hypocritical lifestance on millions of kids. All this falls under his definition of "parental rights." Authoritarian parental "rights" don't bear sweet fruit. I like your version more.
