OK. That makes more sense. A dating site can ask people if they're cis or trans, along with asking whether they're a woman or a man. They can also ask if you're searching for cis/trans women/men. (And if someone doesn't like this site, they can go to another site that doesn't require the info or asks it differently.) But the language matters, and I think zero trans people are excited about entering "male" or "female" into a database especially if they already worked hard to change that designation on their legal ID and/or have physically modified their bodies. A cis stranger who's never met the trans person in question can't make the assessment that male/female (as assigned at birth) remains an accurate descriptor for them. The trans person is the expert about themselves.
