None of this is related to my article on the "Witch Trials" podcast. You had asked exactly what behavior of Rowling's I disagree with; part of my answer is in that article. I guess you weren't interested in my answer after all, so I sure am glad I didn't write a new article for you.
Moving on from my 16-min article on the "Witch Trials" podcast, on which your answer expended no energy, U.S. state and federal laws affecting LGBTQ people is a separate topic. (Rowling lives in the UK.)
Given that you said you married your partner for "taxes and rights to decide healthcare"—and, of course, some of the relevant policies are federal, not state—I'm surprised you say you don't support federal rights and benefits. Seems a bit contradictory. Or maybe you support them for yourself, but not for others.
Yes, as you noted, LGBTQ people in "red states" are in dire straits right now. Nearly 400 anti-LGBTQ bills have been introduced just during January. Meanwhile it seems people who live there aren't receiving your out-of-state support for their struggles because you don't believe in speaking up beyond your own state level. You're spending your time introducing yourself to trans people online (after admittedly not reading our articles) by saying trans people's genders aren't real and that we cause all the transphobia against us; defending JK Rowling; asking trans people to write more articles we've already written, then not responding directly to those either; and asking us why we allow ourselves to be controlled by spending any time thinking about transphobia in the first place.
It's great that you employ people who are openly trans or who are known to you to be trans. To continue supporting them at a basic minimum, please accept that their genders are real. In other words, if someone tells you they're a woman or a man, that's what they are. They can, additionally, be trans; this does not lessen or cheapen or undermine the rest of their gender. If you want to be perceived as an ally, supporter, or any kind of friend to transgender people, please do not express public support for Rowling's anti-transgender positions. When you ask a trans person for more information about Rowling and they share a collection of nine articles they wrote about Rowling's anti-transgender positions, please read them and think about them, rather than changing the subject to how the US government works.
Well, I'm glad you have everything you need at the federal and/or state level. Have a great day.
