Indeed, your DNA doesn't determine whether you're a good person, or how you "ought" to identify religiously or culturally. It will just tell you who your cousins are! That in itself might satisfy a curiosity. The Ancestry DNA test, for example (via ancestry dot com), provides results that currently use the term "European Jewish" if you have genetic links to other Europeans from Jewish communities. Ancestry DNA tells me I'm 100% "European Jewish," which is accurate based on what I know of my family story. All 8 of my great-grandparents were born in Europe to Jewish families in the late 1800s. The DNA test told me something I already knew. But if I hadn't known it, it would have been informative :) So it depends what you want to know.
