I'd never heard of Why We Never Danced the Charleston. Now I'm interested in it for multiple reasons—thanks.

I once researched the family that created Cypress Gardens in South Carolina; it was their private land, and during the 1920s they built trails on it, and in the early 1930s they opened it to the public.

I also read the history book Charleston's Germans which includes this era, focusing on the German immigrant community.
