I agree that voting for Harris was a simple thing people could do for harm reduction to many people — including (arguably) for people in Gaza, since some people expect that Trump will promote more violence there than Harris would have. I voted for Harris.

Some Palestinians are LGBTQ, and for that reason alone I wouldn't categorize Palestinians as "a group of people who don't like gay or trans people," especially if doing so is meant to suggest that we should care somewhat less about what happens to Palestinians as a group. Nor would I characterize them as people "who cheered during 9/11," if only for the reason that (per the UN Population Fund) two-thirds of Palestinians are currently under age 30, which means they did not cheer for anything that happened 23 years ago because they were small children or not born yet.

Wearing masks, especially indoors in large groups, makes it possible for immunocompromised and other disabled and chronically ill people to participate, and thus to fight for their rights (trans and/or disability rights) alongside their community. Masked people are taking care of others, since the mask catches what you breathe out more so than it filters what you breathe in, and so I interpret mask-wearing as caring for others, not so much as fearing for oneself. If a person is concerned for their own ability to withstand a small viral exposure, I assume they have some medically grounded reason for that concern and that it isn't an irrational anxiety, and regardless, their health choices aren't for me to judge. If someone who would have otherwise supported trans rights decided to vote against trans rights just because they once met a trans person who was wearing a covid mask, I would like (again, if that person really exists) to unpack their reasoning, which already appears to involve prejudice against trans and disabled people or maybe just resentment against people who think and act differently in ways that don't hurt anyone.
