Here, there's almost a parallel with arguments about the existence of God. This position starts with an agnosticism that leans toward atheism. We can't know for sure whether any God is really there: agnosticism. Therefore, even if God exists, the fact would be irrelevant to us: atheism. But then, there's some constructed story about God, i.e., some level of knowledge "mediated by language": I don't know the word for that.
