No One Should Inflict Hunger in Gaza. Famine is a Choice.
Headlines on the crisis for those who have overlooked them
If you’ve read about hunger in Gaza, you don’t need to continue. This is for people who haven’t seen the headlines or who have let them roll by.
This should not happen. It’s happening intentionally, and collectively, we humans can stop doing it and ought to do so.
At the start of 2024, Joshua P. Hill noted that, in Gaza,
“over 500,000 people are now starving. Of the human beings on Earth experiencing the most acute level of starvation, 80% are Palestinians in Gaza right now. It may take a minute to wrap your mind around that. Approximately 700,000 people on the planet at this moment are experiencing phase 5 hunger, or catastrophic starvation. 4 out of 5 of them are in Gaza. In other words Israel is starving Gaza to death.”
This awareness inevitably becomes part of stories that are ostensibly about something else.
