Yesterday, Matthew Boedy released a new book, The Seven Mountains Mandate: Exposing the Dangerous Plan to Christianize America and Destroy Democracy. On August 31, hoping to learn more about the role of Charlie Kirk and Turning Point, I had registered for his book talk to be held on release day, September 30.

The so-called “seven mountains” are major domains of life: education, family, religion, government, business, media, and entertainment. It was Lance Wallnau who got people envisioning these realms as “mountains.” There’s no need to fuss over the imagery. The important part is that the Christian Nationalist plan is to dominate them all, to ensure that Christians enjoy privilege in the United States. Today, half of U.S. evangelicals are willing to label this project as God’s will. And a third of Christian Nationalists say they believe violence can be warranted to pursue such political goals. They’re aware they aren’t an ideological majority; they believe they can seize power regardless.

The success of this movement is in large part due to “a conservative youth political outreach group started in a small garage in Illinois” by Charlie Kirk, then a teenager, “now in his thirties and armed with boundless…
