If you’ve seen the intensely hateful words coming from the right-wing media outlet The Daily Wire, you might also wonder how much money they have: where it comes from, where it’s going. The answer is that they have quite a lot of money, and that’s how they’re empowered to spread so much hate.

The Daily Wire Has a Lot of Revenue

The Daily Wire has been around since 2015, which is — not coincidentally — when Donald Trump declared his presidential campaign. From the beginning, the Daily Wire used Facebook to draw attention to their own sites where they made money running ads for other businesses. They also began a streaming service, DailyWire+, which reached 100,000 paying subscribers in 2020.

Starting in 2020 — the beginning of the covid pandemic and also the year Trump campaigned for reelection — their subscriber base soared. Their revenue was $65 million in 2020 and $100 million in 2021. In April 2022, they revealed they had nearly 600,000 paying subscribers. Shortly after that, they released the film What Is a Woman? By November, they had 1 million paying subscribers. Their DailyWire+ channel on YouTube, to which they’ve posted over 7,000 videos, today has 3 million subscribers.
