A proposed Texas law would classify you as a drag performer

If you’ve heard someone mention an anti-transgender initiative in Texas over the last couple days, they might have been speaking about a number of things, unfortunately. Here’s some of what is happening.

Then, I ask whether the movement that calls itself “gender-critical” is opposing this.

Gender-Related Healthcare

A couple days ago, House Bill 672 was introduced in the Texas State Legislature. It would redefine “abuse” to include “administering,” “supplying,” or otherwise “consenting to” a child’s puberty blocker, hormones, surgery, or any “medical procedure…for the purpose of gender transitioning or gender reassignment.”

These politicians see intersex children as being in need of correction and normalization. This bill considers physical transition to be abuse only if the child is not intersex.

Why is healthcare politicized? Why don’t politicians allow doctors to go by medical guidelines? Good question.

If this becomes law, it will be criminal child abuse for doctors and parents even to consent to a child’s healthcare if they believe the primary intention is a gender transition.
