No Congressional Republican Condemns the ‘White Power’ Video

POTUS retweets a ‘white power’ chant. No Republican tweets to tell him to stop.

What the President Tweeted

Early Sunday morning, June 28, 2020, President Donald Trump retweeted a video in which a Florida-based Trump supporter chanted “White power!”

“Thank you,” Trump said in his retweet, calling these supporters “great people.”

This made the news, and later that morning, Trump’s retweet was gone. He apparently deleted it himself, and offered no explanation nor apology.

The next morning, Trump retweeted a different video in which a white couple pointed guns at protesters who were peacefully passing by their home. The video was posted by ABC News; Trump did not add a comment of his own.

Republicans Are Silent

Through the rest of the week, up to and including Saturday, the Fourth of July, Congressional Republicans collectively tweeted many times. None of their tweets, however, criticized the president’s tweets. (I updated this article to reflect the status through July 4.)
