A lot of interesting ideas here. There's a question of what we inherently, privately, authentically want to embrace and/or avoid, distinct from a question of what our various groups and cultures are telling us to embrace and/or avoid.

Then, a meta question: Will we embrace/avoid our inner voice or the outer voices?

If we go boldly with our inner voice, might we sometimes appear to others as an outer voice that they hear as their cultural imperative, such that they'll have to decide whether to be like us or like themselves? Alternatively, if we conform to outer voices, do we incorporate them such that those inputs start to sound to us like who we really are?

These questions are on infinite repeat with every choice we make!
